Dr. Fosler-Lussier is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, with courtesy appointments in Linguistics and Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University.  His research group, the Speech and Language Technologies Laboratory (SLaTe) applies statistical machine learning techniques informed by linguistic principles to problems in speech and natural language processing. His team works in diverse areas such as virtual patient design for training medical students, assessing the reading fluency of children, extracting information from clinical text, modeling the behavior of speech recognition systems, and understanding the semantics of maps.

Dr. Fosler-Lussier co-leads TDAI’s Foundations of Data Science and AI community of practice.
