Cancer treatment disparities research receives NCI award
TDAI core faculty members Jennifer Sinnott, associate professor of Statistics, and Macarius Donneyong, assistant professor of Outcomes and Translational Sciences (College of Pharmacy) and Health Services Management and Policy (College of Public Health), are members of an interdisciplinary team that received a $2.4 million award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for endometrial cancer disparities research. The project, which is led by Ashley Felix (PI), associate professor of epidemiology, focuses on understanding why Black women do not receive treatment in line with national recommendations as frequently as white women, examining individual and systemic contributing factors, and identifying potential intervention points. The team also includes Tasleem Padamsee, assistant professor in Health Services Management and Policy, and Kemi Doll, physician and associate professor at the University of Washington.
