Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

My research, career, and publications are characterized by the theme of injury assessment. I am a forensic anthropologist by education, training, and professional practice; however, my perspectives and research are strongly interdisciplinary in nature.  My primary research focus is to comprehensively understand skeletal trauma, specifically the investigation into linking fracture characteristics with injury mechanisms. My overall aim is to identify sources of variation in fracture patterns, with a particular emphasis on validating classic assumptions in forensic anthropology and injury biomechanics. My expertise is in forensic anthropology and skeletal biology with a holistic perspective bringing together the fields of anthropology, anatomy, and biomedical engineering, all of which contribute to the framework of my research, undergraduate and graduate mentoring, as well as establishing me as an expert in my field.
