Food safety panel discusses data analytics to control hazards

The Center for Foodborne Illness Research and Prevention, led by TDAI core faculty Dr. Barb Kowalcyk, associate professor of food science and technology, hosted a conference and think tank April 3-5 with Food Safety Tech that included a panel discussion featuring TDAI faculty director Dr. Tanya Berger Wolf; TDAI affiliate Dr. David Landsbergen, associate profession in the Glenn College of Public Affairs; and TDAI affiliate Dr. Nora Bello, professor of animal science. The discussion, “Breakfast with Food Safety Thought Leaders: Using Data Analytics to Control Food Safety Hazards,” explored moving from food safety to hazard analysis to risk assessment.

The Food Safety Tech’s Hazards Conference Series + CFI Think Tank, held at Ohio State’s Fawcett Center, convened leaders in industry, academia, standards and regulation to discuss pathogenic and chemical risks facing the food industry and offer practical guidance and cutting-edge research on the detection, mitigation, control and regulation of the most significant foodborne illness risks.
