TDAI’s Alex Davis Presents at Ohio State’s AI Fluency Forum

Alex Davis, Senior Data Scientist at The Ohio State University’s Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI), presented on behalf of the institute at the 2025 AI Fluency Forum, hosted by the Office of Academic Affairs. The forum brought together faculty, staff, administrators, and research leaders from across campus to explore how Ohio State can accelerate AI capacity, education, and engagement for all Buckeyes.
Speaking during the plenary session, Davis highlighted TDAI’s contributions to the university’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem and introduced the strategic vision behind the emerging AI(X) Hub—a university-wide effort to unlock exponential impact by fusing AI with diverse academic and applied fields.
The slide he presented, “The AI(X) Hub: Unlocking Exponential Possibilities When AI Is Fused With Different Fields,” outlined the vision for building a dynamic, collaborative network that empowers researchers, educators, and industry partners to develop and deploy AI solutions with societal impact. Core components of the vision include:
  • Creating a campus-wide intellectual hub that brings together AI researchers and domain experts
  • Advancing foundational AI research and enabling transformative innovation
  • Establishing an ecosystem that unites researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders
  • Developing cutting-edge AI tools and products that scale to real-world use
  • Delivering AI-driven solutions to pressing global challenges
  • Expanding accessible AI education, mentorship, and skill-building for Ohio State learners
Davis emphasized the critical role TDAI plays in connecting interdisciplinary research teams, supporting data-enabled scholarship, and fostering collaborations that advance both fundamental AI science and high-impact applications. He also underscored the institute’s work in driving faculty engagement, leading research communities such as the Yearlong Themes, and supporting the university’s broader strategy to build AI fluency across all disciplines.
TDAI’s participation in the AI Fluency Forum reflects the institute’s commitment to shaping Ohio State’s AI future—strengthening research infrastructures, expanding training pathways, and supporting the university’s mission to lead as a national model for responsible, innovative AI integration.
